Acknowledgements

We would like to thank all the people who were involved in this project despite the challenges related to Covid-19. This project was initially supposed to take place on the Nitassinan (innu territory in Quebec), but the pandemic forced us to make important methodological changes. Thus, several meetings were held by videoconference and one face-to-face meeting with the partners took place in the community of Uashat mak Mani-Utenam in Quebec.

These exchanges and sharing on the importance of territory and the ways to protect it were very rich. We hope that this electronic resource will be able to accompany and inspire other Indigenous Nations in their approach to protecting the territory.

We would also like to thank the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, without which this project would not have taken place (Connection grant program) and the Maison de la Culture Innue - Shaputuan who warmly welcomed us in November 2021 for the meeting of the project partners.
